Medical Negligence Concerns in the UK

Getting medical treatment can be a real worry these days.  With the NHS in chaos, facing collapse, and so many stories in the media concerning incompetent or even fraudulent doctors and nurses, our fears have never been more justified.

All doctors in the UK are required to hold a license issued by the GMC and in the case of foreign doctors practising in the UK, there are very strict requirements they must pass in order to be permitted to work.  This is supposed to ensure that only the most competent and best-qualified people are practising medicine in the UK.

With all the safeguards in place, it’s incredible that every year there are hundreds of cases of serious medical negligence taking place all across the UK, and those are just the ones that are detected and reported.  Who knows how many other cases there are where the negligence is never discovered?

It’s important to make sure that incompetent doctors are tracked down and deregistered in order to ensure they don’t cause more harm.  If you’re in the unfortunate position of being a victim of medical negligence, the knowledge that the person ultimately responsible for your situation has been punished may be some comfort, but it won’t do much to compensate you for the harm you have suffered.

As a patient, you are entitled to the utmost standard of care at all times.  This is true for everyone in the UK, regardless of nationality, race, gender, income level, or anything else.  We are all entitled to the same high standards of medical care.  If at any time you feel that the care you receive is not up to the standard it should be, you are entitled to lodge a complaint.  In more serious matters, such as where there is clear negligence involved, you are entitled to take legal action to receive compensation for the damages you incur.

In many cases victims aren’t even sure if they should proceed with legal action, or they may feel that they have little chance of success.  Please don’t give in to such thoughts.  It really would be a very good idea to engage the services of specialist Medical Negligence solicitors who can apply their specialist knowledge to determine if you have a triable case, and whether you should proceed with legal action.  This is the sensible course of action, because most people don’t have the detailed knowledge of medical law required to make an accurate assessment.  You may have a much better chance of success than you think.

With a solicitor on your side to assist you, the process becomes much simpler for you, and you are less likely to make mistakes that will reduce or even eliminate the compensation that is rightly due to you as a victim of medical negligence.  Solicitors may do many things, and as officers of the court, they have far greater powers than ordinary people.  This gives them access to information that hospitals or clinics may try to restrict from you. The Solicitors Guru will help you to find a good lawyer who could solve all your problems connected with medical negligence.
