Let’s Go Outside!

When the weather begins to pick up, there is one place our mind immediately wanders – the garden!

There is nothing more peaceful than sitting in your own back garden, relaxing in nature, enjoying a bit of vitamin D from the sun bearing down, and enjoying your own space. Because of that, it’s important to make that green space your own, but how can you do that when cash is a little tight?

Well, there are plenty of ways you can upgrade your garden on a budget, and it really just takes a little creative thinking. See if any of these ideas could help you transform your garden into a haven of peace and tranquilly this summer!

One person’s junk …

People tend to get bored quite easily with furniture, especially that of the garden variety, such as chairs and garden tables, so it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on second hand websites, or advertisements in the local newspaper, to see if you can grab any bargains. It doesn’t have to be new to be useful, and you can always clean things up to look as good as new!

If you have any house chairs or anything that you could reuse in the garden, think about switching it up a little. All you need to do is make sure things are weather-proofed, which is easily done, and grab a few fabric covers to brighten things up. You could also make sure of any spare material you have, e.g. old curtains, to make chair covers etc. Get creative!

Invest in a BBQ

You don’t have to buy an all singing, all dancing, expensive BBQ to be able to have fun summer parties and dinner in the garden! A cheap BBQ will be just as functional and gives you the perfect excuse to eat al fresco, or something to keep warm around when the weather turns slightly chilly, but you still want to grab some fresh air.

Green fingers

Early in the year, think about your garden and what you want in it, and get planting flowers and shrubs! If you design where you plant them carefully, you could plan yourself a real designer space. It’s not hard to find information on what goes where and when, a quick search online will give you information, or a book from the library if you want to do it the old fashioned way! You could even plant your flowers in funky pots, such as old kitchen jugs you no longer want – make it quirky!

If you have a paved section, why not grass it over, and vice versa? A slight expansion may be all it needs to make your garden feel different and totally new to you.

Don’t try and do it all at once if you’re struggling for cash, you can easily upgrade your garden on a budget in stages, but with these handy tips, you’ll see how easy it can be!
